点评:We always visit Kerrera when in Oban. I wish we’d known about the ticket problem, however. Poor reception meant we could not travel on the day we intended, and we went and bought our tickets at the Calmac office in Oban.
Once on the ferry 48 hours later, we found out the tearoom was closed so we decided to turn right , towards the marina. We had our dog, and she had to stay on the extending lead. WARNING: rabbits have been poisoned on this stretch, and our dog found three, and we had to persuade her to drop it each time she had her jaws clamped round one carcass.
The track this side is more of a road, so less muddy than the track to Gylen Castle. The views across to Oban were stunning, and the weather was glorious (all week) . We had no food with us, so we were relieved to find Achentrive Farm, which has a well stocked shop with an honesty box ! We then encountered 3 young Highland coos, who were a little too interested in the dog. Fortunately they were not there on our return.
We arrived at the Marina where there’s a cafe/ restaurant, which served coffee, but there wasn’t a great choice, just instant. I still prefer the Tearoom and Castle route, but this made a nice change.
