马特霍恩峰的点评
点评：It is such an experience to have the opportunity to see the Matterhorn in person. After visiting Disneyland for over five decades, I finally made it to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn in person and I must admit that I was very fortunate as I have heard that there are many visitors who venture out to Zermatt miss that wonderful opportunity due to the unforseen changing forecast and persistent fog that keeps the Matterhorn undercover for days sometimes. That's also the reason why many organized tours to Switzerland often do not include Zermatt as a stopover or even overnight as there is no guaranteed for a clear day and they do not want to leave tourists unhappy as it is unrefundable.
Definitely plan to stay in Zermatt at least three nights just in case if the weather does not cooperate. It is a quite an expensive place to visit but the once in a lifetime experience can out weigh the actual cost.
Before purchasing any tickets in advance to head up and see the Matterhorn up close, check to make sure that the view is possible /clear for that particular day. You do not want to be disappointed. You will not be able to see the Matterhorn when you arrive at the train station. It is about a 20 minute walk up Bahnhofstrasse and then a left turn once you arrive at the church-- keep walking until you see and hear running water below, River Visp at the bridge and when you look up, the Matterhorn is right in front of you!! The weather is constantly changing and the view you saw 15 minutes ago may look completly different with the clouds coverning the Matterhorn. Just wait patiently and you'll notice a different view each time you blink your eyes a few times. Definitely worth a visit to Zermatt to see the world famous, Matterhorn.
