点评:A very emotional experience. We visited as part of wider tour of the monuments of the Normandy landings. The cemetery is beautifully kept.
After exploring the beaches, the bunkers and other sites, to come and see the true cost of the war was quite humbling. We spent a while reading the messages from loved ones on the grave stones, and reading the ages of the dead really bought home what a tragic loss of life it all was.
One thing I found very sad was the number of graves marked simply "Known unto God", where it's unknown who they were or how they died.
Each of was was left with tears in our eyes.
It's very important people continue to visit and remember so these brave men are never forgotten.
Also, it was truly amazing the effort the locals go to for remembrance events, a credit to France.
