点评:We saw this castle listed as one of the top 10 things to do in Luxembourg. After enquiring at the station in Luxembourg City, we got a printed itinerary. We took a train to Ettelbruck (27 minutes) and then 180 bus to Vianden (25 minutes). It was 13 Euros entry to the castle. The castle is in a spectacular position. It has been extensively restored. The route around the castle is well signposted and ensures all visitors proceed in the same direction. Several rooms were furnished. Armour and tapestries are displayed. The information notices are hard to read and I did not see many in English.
Disappointingly, there were no dungeons! We took about 40 minutes to tour the castle. When we arrived at 10.20 a.m. there was no queue, but when we left about 11.20 a.m. the queue was about 30 people. Parking was very busy. There are facilities inside the castle which are less used than those outside. Afterwards, we walked in to the village and followed the River Our Promenade before catching bus 181 back to Ettelbruck.
Together, the castle and walk made a great day out.
