Visiting Chateau de Villandry
维朗德里城堡的点评
点评：I visited Chateau de Villandry on October 20, 2025. This one was my second favorite
chateau of all five. While the chateau itself reminded me more of a countryside house rather than a renaissance castle, it was just as beautiful. The main feature of the whole estate was of course the enormous garden. It had a pond, different plants, a river with fish and swans, a garden maze, a tennis court among the trees, and many more. It is fully built with very specific designs and patterns and is seemingly being taken care of every day by a big team of gardeners who cut every tree and bush in a particular shape. The harmony of the garden is something that has to be achieved through serious effort. The chateau itself felt much more like a place where people lived and spent their everyday lives than any other estate that we’ve visited. I’m also pretty sure this chateau is of a later epoch. But every room, every chamber and gallery all seemed so comforting and peaceful that I could definitely imagine myself living there. Before going into the house, my family and I explored the gardens. It truly felt magical walking through those paths, breathing this clean and fresh air and watching the peace of these landscapes. We walked by the pond, through the maze, sat on a bench, went through the plantations and many more and it was lovely. By the end of the visit I was able to get on the very top of the chateau from where a fascinating view on the gardens unraveled. The way that every pattern is simmetrical to the smallest possible uncertainty was astonishing. I got the best impression of this place and would absolutely visit it again.
