点评:After spending a morning out on a boast trip in Walvis Bay we decided to drive to Cape Cross to see the seal colony . It is a long way from there on a dead straight tar road with absolutely nothing to see apart from salt mines and piles of salt. You had to work hard to stay awake on what feels like a never ending road. Eventually we came to the Cape Cross colony entrance sign but its still another 7 kms to the colony. You pay an entrance fee at the reception, but the member of staff seemed bored and just pushed the ticket at us, and we had to ask where to go. The colony is huge, up to 200,000 seals, adults and pups, many just basking in the sun, others swimming in the sea or fighting for space . The noise is incredible and yes it does smell but it wasn't as bad as many make out. There is a broadwalk around the colony so you can walk around the whole area and get close to the seals. There were a few dead pups around but they were in the colony and it appears they had probably been squashed by the sheer number of animals. There weren't any animals on or under the broadwalk so maybe the authorities had listened to previous complaints. All the animals seemed to be in good condition and not really bothered by the visitors. My only complaint were the large numbers of staff that were just standing by the barriers not doing anything , but regularly kept clapping and shouting making the seals move from where they were resting to race towards the sea. I don't know if they thought it would make better photos for guests but there really was no need for it , and certainly no need to keep disturbing the seals.
Whilst there you can also see the Cape Cross sight adjacent .

在那里,您还可以看到相邻的Cape Cross景观。
