点评:Salzburg Old Town is passionately referred to as Salzburger Altstadt. It is a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site known for its Baroque architecture and offers a charming and picturesque experience with its historic buildings and cobblestone streets.
Our Local Guide show us around the area, as we walked along on both sides of the Salzach River, . Admiring the postcard-worthy views of Salzburg’s skyline. From the Staatsbrücke - Makartsteg footbridge we entered the Old Town. Richly stuffed with history the architecture of the Town is a mix of styles since the Middle Ages, Romanesque, Baroque and Renaissance periods. The historic center definitely offers a lot of adventures through the charming narrow lanes like Getreidegasse (home to Mozart's Birthplace & former residence), and iconic landmarks such as the massive Hohensalzburg Fortress. Also the grand Salzburg Cathedral and the beautiful Mirabell Palace & Gardens as one wanders around the Residenzplatz.. Ther's also Mozart Birth Place, Old City Hall, St Peter’s Abbey, Cemetery & Catacombs, Hohensalzburg Fortress & more.
Some travellers feel it is getting more touristy but its walkable layout and good public transport make major sights easily accessible. We have a bit of free time to explore the many narrow, cobblestone streets merge into famous squares dotted with historic buildings spanning the past centuries. We also have a simple Japanese ramen & sushi dinner at Mian & More Ramen, warm food against the cold 2 deg windy outside..
It was early-Dec and getting dark just at about 4:30pm. Evenings are particularly enchanting and the X’mas market added much Festive touch to the amazing atmosphere..
Salzburg’s Old Town is definitely one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. The alpine setting and picturesque location on the Salzach River, the historic centre charms is a must-visit for visitors. Really fascinated by the area’s vibe.
