点评：The Salzburg Old Town is the origin and beating heart of the city. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, covers the area stretching along both banks of the Salzach River, which are relatively flat, compact and easily walkable. The Old Town reflects centuries of the city's histories, from its Roman origins to the imperial rule under the Prince Archbishops, and is today renowned for its Baroque architecture, connection to Mozart, and filming location for the iconic The Sound of Music movie. Much of the Old Town is beautifully preserved, and walking around the narrow alleys and grand squares feels like stepping into Salzburg past. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Austrian Alps, it is also surrounded by several hilly lookout points, including Festungsberg, Monchsberg and Kapuzinerberg Hills. The best way to enjoy the Old Town is to buy a Salzburg Card which covers all the key attractions including Hohensalzburg Fortress, DomQuartier tour, and Mozart's Birthplace - good enough for a fulsome experience of what the Old Town has to offer. Definitely one of the more lovely and enchanting European old towns!
