Interesting visit to Chawton House, Jane Austen’s brother’s home

点评：A very interesting trip to Chawton House, the home of Edward Austen Knight, brother of Jane Austen and near to the Jane Austen House where she lived and wrote or finished most of her novels in the latter part of her life. She and her sister did visit and dine at the House. Her sister and mother are buried in the adjoining churchyard. The house guides were welcoming and knowledgeable, and this helped in getting a picture of her family tree (as well as family portraits, artefacts) explaining connections to the novels. There was a superb exhibition about other women authors of the period, providing interesting context to her work, and the guides open and let visitors look round the library which she would have spent many hours in. The garden and grounds were beautiful, the rose garden in full bloom. Much recommended!
