The forest walk is delightful — a mix of shaded paths, viewing platforms, benches, and inventive playground equipment tucked along the route. There’s even a whimsical fairy walk that makes you feel as if you’ve wandered into a storybook.
The historic estate house offers a beautifully told glimpse into the lives of the Overend sisters, who lovingly maintained the property and ultimately donated it to the nation. Their story gives the place soul.
We visited on a Friday morning and found the farmers market exceptional — filled with unique, local, sustainable items. The chocolate chip cookie with sea salt and the mozzarella and sun-dried tomato salad were both to die for.
Pat was particularly taken with the teeter-totter; I was in my element exploring the nature trails and animal enclosures.
