点评:I could walk to here from The Manila Hotel as not far (it actually took me longer to cross the 6-lane road outside than to get to the city walls). The old distric is very interesting with many things to see such as churches and museums, plus the fort and actual city walls themselves. I was amazed at how thick they are - so thick they cut out stables within them which are now lovely little cafes. Also was strange to see a golf course inside, but certainly made it different to other old colonial cities. I also loved the maritime statues (bit different again).
It's not an area blessed with many souvenir shops - which is no bad thing as keeps the history and culture. A few restaurants here but if looking for gifts head to the museums or streets across from museums.
As other have mentioned, you may get stopped by tuk tuk drivers looking to guide you or take you around. They are knowledgeable, friendly and cheap so I'd recommend. But equally, if you say a polite no thanks then they will not bother you.
I've found Filipinos to be the friendliest people I have encountered on my travels.
