点评:I had a choice to come here or go to the Larco museum during my short stay in Lima. A local tour guide recommend this museum as having really quality pieces but also a mixture of everything pre-columbian to 20th century and that it was not an overwhelming museum. I spent about 90 mins to 2 hours here (though you could probably also just spend 1 hour too) The admission was affordable. I had not a lot of knowledge about Peru’s history before I visited and I thought this museum really brought it to life. It covered pre-Columbian, Conquistadores, pre and post-Spanish independence, and then also moved into early 20th century. The signage and explanation in Spanish and in English were great and really informative. There is a massive painting on the Death of Atahualpa, which is very impressive and worth the visit. There were also a couple special exhibits going on mixing Incan and modern art. I walked away from the museum with a better appreciation and understanding of Peru’s history through the development of its arts.
