So much wildlife in the Pampas tour!

点评：We booked the 3 days/2 nights Pampas tour from Rurrenabaque.
We saw lots of wildlife! These included caiman, pink river dolphins, herons, macaws, capybara, monkeys (capuchin, yellow and howler) and lots of other birds. All trips were by boat. We got a night boat trip to see a beautiful sunset and then twinkling caiman eyes and a sunrise boat trip to see beautiful reflections off from river. The boat was comfortable and just us 2 and the guide who frequently stopped for us to take photos. We even saw wildlife on the drive to the Pampas such as sloths, toucans, macaws, rhea and capybara. Our guide, Aurelio, was very informative and polite and knew where to find the wildlife!
The food in the accommodation was very tasty and plentiful. Our own chef made a mini buffet at each meal for us to fill our plates on food such as lasagne, chicken, rice, vegetables, potato and salad. As well as soup for starter and fruit for dessert. The chef even made a surprise celebratory cake for a birthday! It felt very homely. All food and a selection of unlimited drinks were included.
The only aspect that wasn’t as excellent was the lodge itself. We were given a mosquito net but there were still mosquitos in the room and other animals got into the bathroom. But we were busy doing activities so spent very little time in the boat.
The journey to Rurrenabaque is arduous (obviously separate to Nick’s tour). We had our flight cancelled and then had to take a 14 hour overnight bus. Nick was very helpful and easily contactable with reorganising our trip and condensing it into 2 days whilst making sure we still did everything that we wanted to. On the return journey the bus got caught in a landslide and we were stationary for several hours and severely delayed. Overall the wildlife that we saw made up for the difficult journey. But bear in mind that it can impact plans even when back in La Paz.
