Game of Thrones has spoilt this old town.

点评：Bitterly disappointed. It doesn’t look like Kings Landing. Game of Thrones has created a frenzy. But it is nothing like the show. The streets are flooded with tourists. The cruise ships pour them into the streets. They wander like the living dead. Zombies standing aimlessly listening to an overpaid tour guide babbling about nonsense as they gaze around hoping to see something interesting. Hoping to grab a memory before onto the next destination. Non cruise tourists flee the city to find some peace and quiet away from the old town. You could do the city in a day. We foolishly booked for 12 nights. Ran out of things to do after 3 days. Sitting in our hotel room (which is very nice) so we don’t have to fight through the crowds trying to get somewhere. Restaurants are all very overpriced and food mainly ordinary or just plain bad. Service is often surly and rude. Why try when another tourist will come along to take your seat? They have so many tourists they don’t even pretend to give service. Who cares if you don’t return? See the streets? There are too many tourists. But we heard 3 unsavoury types talking about the tourists outside their tavern (partner speaks Croatian). They were dissing on the tourists. They said ‘These tourists aren’t spending enough. They don’t have enough money in their wallets. I have more.’ As he looked at his empty restaurant. But the vast hordes in Stradun and surrounding streets don’t spend money. They just wander the streets with their tour guides and go back to their ships. It is the ones who are staying here (like us) who suffer and we can’t wait to get out of old town. Beautiful place spoilt by over tourism.
