Fruska Gora Monasteries的点评
点评：I love this tour! I only have one day to visit Fruska Gora. Fruska Gora is very close to Novi Sad and not too far from Belgrade. You can hike or walk but it will take long time to reach the monasteries and you may see only 2 or 3. By bus is difficult. The best way to visit the monasteries is by car. I rented a car. All monasteries are reached through very good roads and the Waze app will guide you. If Waze takes you to a primitive road then stop and restart you search and look for a paved road. The monasteries are 10 to 30 minutes apart by car from each other. All of them offer free parking and there is no entrance fee. All monasteries have central churches and they are the main reason for the visit.
I visited 8 monasteries following their geographical order as follows:
1. Krusedol (starting monastery)
2. Grgeteg
3. Novo Hopovo
4. Staro Hopovo
5. Vrdnik
6. Jazak
7. Mala Strana
8. Rakovac (last monastery)
All are open, beautiful, and some have been recently restored. All are impressive; I really like Grgeteg and Jazak followed by Novo Hopovo, Staro Hopovo, Krusedol, Vrdnik, Rakovac, and Mala Strana.
The monasteries have preserved the Serbian culture through religion. Some have souvenir shops that sell very nice and cheap religious memorabilia.
This is a trip to ideally do in a sunny day. However, Fruska Gora is a rainy forest. I visited the monasteries in a rainy day. I enjoyed it. Just have an umbrella handy.
