点评:Was glad that we did this trip as a family. For context - we are city folks with cycling experience on designated cycling tracks in parks. It was an extremely windy day (in early winter) so it was really difficult for the children at certain parts of the route (open areas - fields). Recommend to check the weather report before proceeding - generally warmer days will have higher winds; foggy days/colder days will have lesser winds. Family agreed after this trip that it is better to be cycling in the cold/foggy day rather than bright/warm day. Started at Bizen-Ichinomiya (good choice as mostly flat but downslope at more points) and ended at Soja. Bike rental 2000 yen including helmet and drop off at Soja (adult bikes). Instructions by old couple at Bizen Bike Rental shop beside station were in Japanese, but they provided a clear map and photographs of potential wrong turns. But no issues, just keep following the signs (blue and white). Bring lots of food and drinks along as there is only one convenience stall (Lawson) along the way (1/2 way mark and slightly off the track). We did not stop at any shrines/temple/pagoda/burial mound as the kids were struggling with the cycling itself (we took close to 5 hours for 17km including several stops & two detours to look for toilets). But the scenery was really beautiful - many different settings in this 17km (along creek/river, rice/cabbage field, old houses, modern houses etc). Good opportunity to see the locals in their daily lives too - little boy greeting "konichiwa" & waving to every one of us who ride pass etc mostly safe with clear signs. only need to cycling along one slightly busy narrow street at one point of time (earlier in the route). But japanese car drivers were mindful and careful. Mixed reviews from the family - i loved it, so did my youngest (9 yr old). the other 2 older children found it too tough to cycle against the strong winds.
