东山动植物园的点评
点评：This covers a large area and we only visited the zoo area.
A lot of different animals. However as others have said too much concrete and not enough greenery for them. Enclosures could do with being bigger and some animals exhibiting stress behaviour. The zoo is a product of the era in which it was built and needs to be updated to modern welfare standards. Work is taking place in some areas so hopefully standards will improve.
Quite a few food/drink outlets. We found these necessary as very hot day with the concrete increasing the heat effect.
Overall worthwhile as children enjoy. Many animals were "hiding" due to the excessive heat (or I think they were and not empty enclosures!). A amusement area for children.
Entry fee is low, much lower than would expect to pay in Europe. This low income perhaps explains slowness of reforms to modern standards.
