点评:Lovely little cove with pebble beach, beautiful water watch out it drops off deeply… oh and absolutely no butterflies whatsoever, despite what we were led to believe.
It’s only accessible by boat, so you arrive expecting a peaceful, untouched hidden gem. Unfortunately, the hidden gem appears to have been found by everyone else. There’s rubbish everywhere, along with tatty old tents, makeshift shacks and holey tarpaulins strung between the trees — giving the place a rather strong “festival site three weeks after everyone’s gone home” feel.
The nature walk is about a kilometre long and starts off nicely. We followed the signs expecting a spectacular waterfall, viewpoint or some sort of grand finale. Instead, we were rewarded with a large thorny bush, a broken fence and the distinct feeling that we’d been personally mugged by nature.
And then there are the tour boats.
For most of the day it can be lovely and peaceful, but when the large tour boats arrive in the late afternoon, you’d better get yourself out of the water sharpish. One minute you’re enjoying a deserted little cove; the next, four enormous boats full of tourists have arrived and it’s basically Wembley Stadium with swimming.
Overall, it’s naturally a very pretty place, but the rubbish, camping mess and sudden invasion of tour boats take away much of the charm. Definitely worth seeing once — just bring low expectations, a sense of humour and the ability to swim for your life when the boats arrive.
