点评:Hello, Im Seth Stillman, my wife Lyndsey and I opted for I Go Morocco for our Sahara Desert Tour and let me tell you we were blown away. So first some backstory. My wife and I quit our jobs and sold all of our belonging back in Mississippi to travel the world for a year. Our first country to visit was Morocco. We had very high hopes for the country and for this Sahara Desert Tour because, after all, this was where we were starting this amazing journey. So on to the review of the tour. We opted for the four day/three night Sahara Desert Tour through I Go Morocco. At first we were a little weary as I Go Morocco was cheaper than all of the other desert tours we looking into. Due to being on a pretty tight budget, we decided to take a chance after reading all of the great reviews and they did not disappoint.
Day 1: The journey started in Marrakech where we were given very easy instructions for a pick up point to begin the tour. We found our driver precisely where they told us to meet which is always a huge relief when trying to find someone in a foreign county. From there the sprinter van ride started. We began travel East toward our destination to Merzouga. Along the way we picked up other passengers at different pickup point locations. This was extremely organized, as you could tell they had created a route and pickup time system so no one had to walk far from their accommodation or wait on the bus very long. The driver for I Go Morocco was unbelievable. He told you exactly what to expect, when we were planning to stop for a break, what we would see at the stop. etc. Again, communication like this when traveling abroad really gives you some peace of mind and with this tour, we knew exactly what to expect every step of the way. We continued our trip for several hours before we stopped at Ait Benhadou. This is a fortified city used for tons of movies and shows. They took us into town with a tour guide and we saw the sites of where scenes of major movies and TV shows were filmed. Movies and TV shows such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Outer Banks. The experience was awesome and we got great views of the city and the surrounding landscape. We then were fed lunch (included in the tour price). The meal was very good and not what you would expect for an "included with tour" meal. Traditional Moroccan dishes cooked fresh as we ordered. After lunch we marched on into the evening until we got to our stopping point. We were dropped off at a specific hotel accommodation they had arranged with the tour. Every tour reservation had their own accommodation stop and were given a pickup time the following morning. The accommodation and dinner was also included in the tour price and it was great. Clean accommodation with a very good dinner buffet. Our accommodation also had a pool and the hotel planned a fellowship with all the guests with tradition Moroccan music.
Day 2: The next morning the same driver picked us up from the hotel at exactly the time he told us to be ready. Once back in the van we were told again exactly what to expect from the trip, where and when we would be stopping and when the included lunch would be served. On the second day of our journey to the desert we stopped in a Berber village that is famous for farming and making handmade carpets. With another guide we followed through gardens and live fields seeing the crops being grown and tended to by the local. We were then taken into town to visit with a carpet maker. While we were drinking tea, he showed our group the process of making the carpets and displayed some for us. At the end you were given the opportunity to buy some of the beautiful work. There was no sales pitch, no pressure, no guilt. If you wanted to buy great, if not, thank you for coming and enjoy your trip. After the village we were taken a short ride to the Torda Gorge and stayed around 15 minutes. It was a great experience and fun way to break up the last hours of our journey to the desert from Marrakech. After getting back on the road to the desert, we drove a couple of more hours and stopped at a restaurant for lunch. This was also a gorgeous and generous buffet of traditional Moroccan cuisine. It was all delicious and again included in the tour price. After lunch we proceeded the last hour to the desert and were dropped off at a hotel location that was planned by the tour. This hotel would be our starting point for our journey out to camp in the Sahara Desert. Once we arrived at the hotel we waited in the open air lobby for about an hour until sunset was close. We were then walked across the highway to awaiting camels. Here, we received help wrapping your head scarf and mounting your camels. The guides know their stuff and were in complete control of the trek to camp. We rode for about an hour until our base hotel was out of sight and stopped for amazing photos of sunset atop the dunes. From here we rode the final 30 - 45 minutes into base camp. It was pretty dark when we arrived. We were met by more guides who led us to our tents (we booked the base option not the private option, this turned out to be a blessing because we were told by some in our group that went private that it did not include some of the amenities that they were expecting such as A/C and charging ports). Once we got settled into our accommodation (canvas tent with a king bed) we were led to a large dinner tent. There we were served a fantastic dinner of tanjine, cous cous, and fruits. I will add that we must have gotten extremely lucky because the entire desert camp has around 40-50 tents for accommodation. The only people at the entire camp were my wife and I, and 6 other travelers total so we had the entire camp and dinner to ourselves. At this point it was after 10pm. We were given the option to go to another basecamp to dance and listen to tradition Moroccan music with other campers or turn in for the night. We were beat and decided to call it a night while a couple of other travelers opted for the party. ( They later told us it was a lot of fun). So now to sleeping. This was an interesting part of our journey. Since we were there in the summer it was still very warm at night and the tents were equipped for winter. As we got into camp earlier we saw some makeshift beds at the edge of camp all in a circle. We asked the guide if it was safe for us to sleep outside under the stars and they told us that is where they sleep and that there was plenty of beds. So we opted to sleep outside on the makeshift beds and the experience was unreal, a desert night under the stars. The only negative in this review is the shower situation at camp. It was tough. Very little water pressure and the bathroom smelt really bad. We were fine though, got us clean enough and I don't know what we should have expected, its a shower in the middle of the desert. I feel it was about as good as it could have given the circumstance.
Day 3: So now on to the morning. We set out at 5:30 am so we could travel about an hour to get to a tall dune to see sunrise. Here we hung out for about an hour and watched sunrise and were given the opportunity to sand surf. After, we traveled the remaining 30-45 minutes back to the highway and our hotel. Here is where the difference between the 3 and 4 day tour really matters. Once we got to the hotel it was around 7-7:30 am. All travelers were provided a breakfast buffet. Around 8:00am the driver arrived and loaded up the 3 day campers and began the 10 hour trip back to Marrakech. This time there would be no stop for sleep and just regular bathroom stops along the way. We were told by a friend we made at camp that did this option that it was brutal and they would not recommend it. We opted for the 4 day option, so after breakfast we were checked into the hotel and had the entire day to relax by the pool. The accommodation was included in the price of the tour. Lunch and dinner were also provided. No menu, just what the chef cooked. It was all delicious. At sunset, my wife and I went next door for the sunset ATV rental (we opted to add this in our tour package). We spent the next two hours racing behind our guide through the dunes. We stopped atop several of the highest dunes in sight for photos and videos of sunset. We returned at night fall from our ATV excursion and if you do the 4 day tour, then this add on is an absolute must.
Day 4: The final morning our driver was there to pick us up at 8:00am and drive us to Fes. We had already been in Marrakech for 4 days so we were ready to move to a new city. This was another great feature of the tour, you do not have to leave the desert and go back to Marrakech, they have options of other cities they will drop you at the end of the trip. This journey to Fes was also included in the price of the tour and had several photo op stops and bathroom breaks along the way. Our driver was excellent and customized the lunch stop and photo stops to our preferences.
All in all, this was the most organized, planned out, worth the money experience of our lives! If you are traveling to Morocco and have the time, you would be insane not to jump on this tour. I can't speak for other companies but I Go Morocco absolutely killed it. We will recommend this to everyone. If you have any other questions you are welcome to find me on Instagram and see all the pics and highlight. I will be glad to answer any and all questions you have about specifics of the tour. Thanks for reading. Seth Stillman
I Go Morocco 的司机真是太棒了。
日落时分,我和妻子去了隔壁租的日落ATV(我们选择在旅行套餐中添加这项服务)。
Seth Stillman
