点评:We enjoyed our visit and learnt so much about the history of the fur trade and what it must have been like to be a trader in 1815! I definitely would recommend joining one of the scheduled tours if you can. Our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and friendly, and really made the place come to life. We only wish the tour had been a bit longer and covered more of the fort.
After the tour we walked around on our own for about an hour. We were surprised that many of the buildings were unstaffed, and those staff that were around were really just there to answer questions. A few buildings were closed up. We had hoped to see more demonstrations, work in progress etc. (eg nothing much was happening in the kitchen, the bakery, the canoe shop, the trades area… maybe it was just our timing?). Previous reviews mentioned lots of activity and demonstrations but that wasn’t our experience. The farm area seemed somewhat empty, again not much activity and only a few animals.
We spent about 3 hours here but would have stayed longer if there was more happening.
