点评:As described, NOT a zoo, but a truly great experience to learn more about gibbons and the organization’s work. As the gibbons have been rescued from often traumatic experiences with humans and are working to be independent in the wild, you do not get very close to gibbons at the center. We used our zoom lens to get photos, but difficult through the trees and fencing to get many photos. Biggest take away… DO NOT support taking photos with baby gibbons at tourist sites. Many of the gibbons here have been rescued after poachers murdered their families or after the animals became adults and less lucrative for tourism. Truly sad what the animals have been through, but very thankful for the work the center is doing to help.
We registered for the earliest longer tour and were very glad we did. Early in the morning you can sometimes see wild gibbons in the trees near the center. And hearing their calls through the morning is a magical experience.
The park area around the center has a short walk to a waterfall which made for a pleasant morning. We spent 2 hours at the center, about 2 hours in the park and at the waterfall and about an hour for lunch inside the park. 5 hours was perfect for an easier day with time to relax at our hotel in the evening.
Phuket can sometimes be a bustling place, but this was a peaceful stop in our tour around the island.
