点评：An excellent first visit in this Summer season, 2025.
The production of Saul was excellent - innovative staging, great voices and a tight orchestra.
We sat in the stalls, row D, and had a fantastic view of everything. I would suggest there is not a bad seat in the house.
During the dining interval we took a meal at Over Wallop, the self-billed “fine dining” option. I would describe the food as very traditional - and clearly this is what a lot of Glyndebourne patrons want and enjoy. For us, used to be more innovative London restaurants, it was perhaps a little underwhelming and overpriced for the end result. From my recce of the site, the more casual restaurant “Mildmay” looked like the place to be and I intend on trying that next time.
In terms of dress code, the vast majority of men were in black tie which is a great tradition. Ladies however were mostly in semi-casual day dresses rather than the gowns you might expect to see. Perhaps this was just our performance on a Sunday.
Overall, highly recommend the experiences.
