点评：We were staying in a nearby village so decided to walk to Niton, head to Ventnor along the Coastal Path and then back to our village in a sort of triangle-shaped route. There was a (fairly old, admittedly) book of IoW beaches in the cottage that we were staying in, so we were hoping to visit some of the lovely sounding beaches along the Coastal Path stretch. However, to our disappointment it turns out that quite a long stretch of this part of the Coastal Path is currently closed. In fairness the diversions are quite well signposted but it mean that for quite a long section we were walking along a road that was slightly in-land and not wandering along a coastal path or visiting beaches as we'd hoped.

Obviously this is no-one's fault but it might be worth checking the status of whichever part of the path you're hoping to walk before setting off in order to avoid any disappointment.
