The Waterfall of Legend in South Iceland!

点评：It is hard not to see and instantly love Skógafoss waterfall - that's why we've been back there 4 times since our initial visit! Whether you are visiting in the colder months when the waterfall looks like something out of a winter wonderland or in the summer when you can really appreciate the contrast of the fast flowing water over the 60m drop against the lush green cliffs and the volcanic black sand it never fails to impress.
On our most recent trip we visited the waterfall twice, once at the end of our first day as we wanted to visit Mia's country van for some incredible fish and chips and sat watching the water cascade whilst eating our dinner. The second visit was the following morning at sunrise when we could stand in front of the falls with no other visitors around in a moment of pure peace and just be in the moment enjoying the mist from the falls gently covering us.
You can if you feel upto it walk up the metal staircase to the right of the falls to get to the viewing platform at the top - to be perfectly honest I wouldn't recommend it as its a long way up and the view wasn't all that great - just watching a river run over the edge. If however you plan to walk up river to the other waterfalls then that's a different story! I would just say if you do plan to go up the stairs, they do move a little - something that may be a little disconcerting to those uncertain of heights as it can also get windy!
Its hard to really hard to put into words the feeling of utter bewilderment you get when standing toe to toe with Skógafoss but its something you have to experience to really understand.
