Exploring Sydney's Northern Beaches.....
阿瓦隆海滩的点评
点评：Avalon is one of the long, long stretch of beaches that make up Sydney’s ‘Northern Beaches’.
Avalon is a fair distance from Sydney and is closer to Palm Beach than Manly. Most tourists won't venture this far. Being off the main tourist trail, there’s an easier, more laid-back atmosphere about the town and beach.
Enclosed on either side by steep, sandstone headlands, Avalon is not a very long beach. It’s only a fraction of the size of nearby Palm Beach or Collaroy.
Most swimmers were at northern end which had fewer rocks and looked calm with nice gently rolling waves. In the late afternoon, this end captures the last of the sun.
At the southern end, an ocean swimming pool has been carved into the rock platform. It’s much rockier down this part of the beach which makes it a good spot for exploring pretty little rock pools.
A grassy slope with towering Norfolk pines and a kids playground leads down to the beach which allows some shade if you need to escape from the sun for a while.
Facilities are good. There's a large SLS (surf life saving) clubhouse with toilets, change-rooms, outdoor showers, a beachside kiosk and a restaurant, Lovat, on the top level (although we were there in the late afternoon so the cafe had closed and the restaurant had not yet opened).
