I’ve done this hike twice. It does not disappoint! For Norway, I will say it can get a bit busy, but in Norway you get spoiled with so many secluded “neighborhood” hikes, maybe it just seems busy when there’s more than 3 families.
Gorgeous hike that starts out above Sundal camping area and winds through a meadow and along a rushing glacial river before opening into a lake basin before ascending in a counter-clockwise semi-circular path towards the glacier.
The trail is easy to the lake, moderate around the circle (although slippery in rain due to a few steep rock scrambles) and is a little progressive the closer you get to the glacier.
Wear sturdy ankle-supporting boots with good traction. I suggest Lowa Renegade or similar because of their excellent tactile ability with superior padding and waterproof capabilities.
Hiked this in fog and pouring rain the first time and it was amazing. Slow drizzle and steady rain make for empty trails.
The best hiking in this area though is a hidden, off-grid trail about 3 miles away.
