点评:This magnificent monumental structure is testament to the hard working navvies that built it and also a fitting tribute to those that died in the process. It is in quite an exposed area and can be fairly windswept, even on a bright sunny day. On other days it can be dark and brooding. Impressive by itself, it is even better when a train is crossing and we were fortunate to see a long goods train. Better still if you manage to catch one of those rare days when a steam locomotive is hauling carriages across.
We were fortunate to get the last remaining parking space nearest to the path. There are many places to park but some involve a fair walk and on busy days, it can be a job finding space anywhere. This is a great place for keen walkers and hikers but not so good for the disabled. It needs a paved road up to the viaduct with plenty of blue badge parking. I struggled along the path aided by my wife and trusty walking stick. I was surprised to find that even though we were only about a quarter of a mile away, the entire edifice had completely disappeared from view. We eventually made it to the top of the path, where the arched span reappeared. The effort nearly killed me and we were still a good distance away. It would have been no bother when I was younger but that's life. Well worth a visit. There are other viaducts of similar extent but not in such a majestic location.
