点评:We made another visit to Grounds for Sculpture. You might think a sculpture garden is not “worth a detour” but the folks who have designed the sculpture park have Fi7nd ways to deliver widespread appeal.
In addition to really cool “statement” sculptures and ones I think are rotating exhibition, they do a couple of other things to hold your attention.
They have life sized, fully painted human sculptures doing everyday things hidden within the foliage. Examples are couple of students with books who have fallen asleep,or a businessman stretched out on a bench, napping with the New aYork Times over his head.
They also have tableaux with similar human figures, although now they are representing famous impressionist paintings. These are very cool.
Are there negatives? The property is huge. Ideally, you want to,get in towns the center, where paths lead to unexpected “exhibits.” The first few paths you take parallel parking areas, so you are not surrounded why lawns and trees yet. You need to figure out how to get “inside.”
We like this a lot and plan on returning.
