点评:We hiked the Laurel Ridge Trail first. The guide at the Visitor Center told us this was one of the most popular trails. Total distance was 1.8 mile loop with a lovely view of Mt. Yonah at the ridgetop. The brochure with specific points of interest along the trail was helpful. Hike was not terribly difficult but there were some steep areas. Total time was just under an hour. After returning to the visitor center for a break, we decided to "hike" Tsalaki Trail - a paved roadway that goes though the park. This was more of a walk than a hike. There is no traffic other than park vehicles (and apparently school busses) on this route. We walked to the covered bridge and enjoyed watching school children splashing in the creek while on a field trip. There is a very steep hill to climb at the beginning of the walk but after that it is mostly easy inclines and declines. Round trip was a bit over 3 miles and took an hour. We enjoyed both our hike and walk at Smithgall Woods but they were very different. If you want to walk in the woods, we recommend the Laurel Ridge Trail. The Tsalaki Trail will get you to several other trails within the park. The Visitor Center was very helpful in explaining all the trails, the difficulty ratings and time required to hike.
