It was barely an OKAY place.
Unicoi State Park的点评
点评：UNICOI is a unique park in some ways.
But it was underwhelming as a tent camper. The sites don't have electricity, but the price is the same as at other sites. Additionally, only one of the 40+ tent camping sites is structured in a way that you can park your car by your reserved site. That was not announced or made clear on the phone when I tried to obtain information. I felt cheated. They also want to allow only one tent per site. That's oddly different from most parks. Overall, the site was distant from where we parked the car. With children, that creates more of an issue. But it was not a totally bad experience as there are things to focus on, like visiting Helen, an actual tourist overpriced trap of a town. Very charming, though, but over-the-top expensive lodging and food. The lake is very nice, but there are no signs where you can launch your boat. It is a tranquil lake, great for boating and fishing. The woman's bathroom that is closest to the campsite did not have a shower at the women's bathroom and its pretty dark if you are going to the next bathroom (pitch black). The man's bathroom had a fan, which was nice.
In September, we detected no mosquitoes...that was a plus!!
I think the campsites need to be revamped and rebuilt to be half comfortable. Most people want to have their things close to them, and no one is prepared to pack and carry stuff.
