点评:Promotional materials for Johns Hopkins Pain Treatment Program (PTP) cheerily assert that "story matters!" This implies that the service user’s story, their lived experience, matters to the clinicians and plays a significant role in treatment. However, I discovered the treatment plan is based on the psychiatrist's story about my story, which has virtually no similarity. Dr. Glenn Jordan Treisman’s personal experience and psychiatric training reduced my story to one about broken brain chemicals disconnected from a living, breathing human being. Such dehumanization generates the contempt from which cruelty is made and abuse is perpetrated.
The Hopkins pain clinic provided me with an assessment that erased my life story and replaced it with items cherry-picked to support a preconceived conclusion so ill-fitting that my therapist said "Well, at least they got your name right." My psychologist noted the document is "blaming you in a sense for where you are, that you haven't done the right thing." Ironically, the document simultaneously says I've done so much of the right things for myself that Hopkins can’t offer better.
Hopkins presents the clinic as cutting edge but it just pushes the same old stuff. It proposes to treat me through the same modality that deeply harmed me already, much more of it, for a longer period of time and more intensely.
The density of the contempt markers in the report confirms that to trust my care to anyone associated with the production of this document would be to knowingly put me in the very power dynamic that repeatedly caused me deep and lasting harm. The Hopkins pain clinic would be the very kind of closed system and power differential that allows and protects the type of obliteratingly heinous abuse to which I have been subjected repeatedly since birth, predominantly by those in charge of my welfare.
Fortunately, I have studied the neurobiology of trauma and recovery for over 9 years and was able to discern the truth about the Hopkins pain clinic: it's just another pathologizing, degrading, and reductionist psychiatric facility that often causes trauma survivors more harm. I chose to continue my neuroscience-based somatically-oriented dynamic healing framework, which has saved my life against a "healthcare" system so ignorant that it causes further trauma and even kills. #TraumaAwareAmerica

#TraumaAwareAmerica
