Last Minute Unexpected Changes

点评：We went yesterday for a heart to heart spa day. All booked over 6 months in advance as an anniversary present for my partner. Looking forward to it until we got a call on Saturday at 5pm to say due to staff illness we couldn't have the 2 hour treatments each the next day, we can only have 1 hour each as they can't get cover for the following day.
We were offered either a return trip for the remaining treatments which we declined due to the 2 1/2 hour round trip and accepted a refund for those missing treatments. After having this booked for so long I was left feeling disappointed that this had happened so close to the visit. I was also told we'll make sure you have a special day, surely you should offer that anyway??
So, we arrived Sunday morning and the spa receptionist was very good, got us our smoothie, showed us to the changing rooms then a tour of the facilities and left us to it.
Initial impression is the spa is really nice. The pool is an inside / outside pool and there are various sauna / steam rooms etc (didn't use those). Plenty of loungers during the day.
Lunch was nice although portions quite small.
We went for our private hot tub session and waiting in the area with the heated tiled beds. To us this is an odd area to wait for your treatments / hot tub experience. The beds really are not comfortable and you can't lie on them for long, comfy chairs would be much better and its an area nobody seems to use. Hot tub experience was nice with a glass of bubbly and a brownie each. Although the room does get very hot due to the small space the hot tub is in. I think it would be far better if they could find a way of screening off the hot tub and have it under cover outside perhaps? We did enjoy it though.
Due to the shortage of therapists we had to have separate treatments. They were both nice massages I think by Olivia.
So overall a really nice spa day and its a great location and nice to not be in a spa where its standing room only.
The only negatives I could give is after cancelling part of our day at short notice, yes we got an apology but nothing else, they didn't go above and beyond to do anything special to try and make it up to us. When we left we were told the refund had been done for the treatments we didn't get, but they were charging us for the £8 of drinks we had. Yes its only £8 but I have been in sales / customer service a long time so why not at least go look, we are sorry about the issues so the least we can do is not charge you for the drinks. Just a little gesture like that to make us go away with a 10/10 feeling for the day. In the end we would say we felt 8/10. I just think they missed a trick by not coming up with something extra as a way to apologise.
We do recommend the spa though and we will be back for another spa day or spa break in the future.
