点评:We were scheduled for the 2:30 time slot and thought it would be tight to get everything in, but it was enough time to walk through slowly and take in the magnificence of this structure and the lifestyle of this bi-gone era. As a student of architecture I was enthralled with the craftsmanship throughout and the engineering marvel of the "floating" cantilevered stone staircase. You will not find access to this type of craftsmanship or engineering marvel at this scale many other places in the world. The family's commitment to the preservation of this estate is a testament to their legacy. I will go back many times after this. Do NOT miss touring the conservatory in the gardens, if you love plants. It was indescribable. It would have been nice if many of the plants were identified by a label, however. Prices in the nearby shops were not exorbitant and they have a lovely selection of souvenirs and mementos. The visit to the Antler Village was a bit disappointing as we arrived a bit late and the food choices were not plentiful and what was available was very pricey. That must be why there is a food truck on the grounds. The atmosphere is very peaceful with a touch of graciousness missing in many tourist areas. I would like to go back there and give it a second chance.
