Extremely scenic
罗克斯伯勒州立公园的点评
点评：Sure there’s a $10 per vehicle entrance fee, but it’s worth it! Roxborough State Park is a stunning attraction definitely worth a visit for those in the vicinity of Denver and/or driving south to Colorado Springs.
We didn’t run across too many people on a Monday morning. Paying the fee was difficult because nobody was at the gate, and the machine there was inoperative, but we found someone at the Visitor’s Center who would take our money (and someone else giving out $100 fines to cars without proof thereof). We waffled between the Fountain Valley and Carpented Peak trails, ultimately selecting the former to spare our legs for subsequent excursions. Fountain Valley was just over two miles and ranked “easy”; it descended gradually amidst a scenic backdrop of tall red rock structures. We saw folks of all ages. Kids, seniors, etc.
Beyond the flat terrain, there were a few rigorous offshoots to climb for even better valley views. At one, we encountered friends who were preparing to surprise a couple on the verge of becoming engaged. It was that pretty!
In sum, this isn’t a large park where you would typically spend all day, but the pass lasts for 24 hours in case you want to return the next day to walk another pretty trail.
