All aboard the St. Croix Scenic Tour in July

点评：It was a gray sometimes-rainy day and we decided to book the 90-minute Scenic tour at the last minute for 4 of us. One thing to know is that the train may have more than one type of 'tour' on it at a time. We shared our Scenic tour with the Pizza tour, which seemed quite popular with families. The Pizza tour has its own cars. We chose to sit in the 'Triple Combine Car' which had open windows and fewer people and was towards the end of the train cars. It did not have air conditioning but we heard the AC was not working well in the other cars and so we were happy to have the window breezes. We loved the pace of the train as well as all of the museum memorabilia and information aboard. It was quite lovely to sit back and travel along the river valley. The train travels about 30-ish minutes in one direction, then switches the engine to the other end of the train to travel back to the start. The train is staffed by volunteers who are friendly and helpful and willing to answer random questions. There is a small 'cafe' which consists of packaged snacks (pretzels, popcorn, chips, chocolate, etc.) and beverages in a cooler (pop, water, beer). The snacks were reasonably priced -- the only thing that was a bit more expensive was the beer ($8). It was fun to walk through the train cars and just be able to move around as we traveled. I would say the 90-minute ride was just about the right length. Would recommend for anyone who is interested in a train ride!
