点评：This is a small flat campground on Lake Burton. There were tents, trailers and RV campers. If you like to kayak or have a fishing boat, they have 2 docks. The campsites have electricity and water – there is a dump station onsite. There are also two bath houses – the one closer to the check in is handicap accessible. The checkin office also in has a great gift shop and snacks (ice cream!).
We drove across the street and up to the Hemlock trail head where we took the mile long hike to the falls. We have two big dogs and it had not rained in a while, but the mountains always give water and we had to cross a couple of slippery rocks and walk across a narrow bridge. It was enough challenge for us. There is also a shorter nature which the trail head for was right after you turn off the main road, we did not do this hike.
Moccasins Creek is right next to a fish Hatchery which is free to walk through. They release fish into Moccasin Creek mid-March through mid-September – a variety of fish. If you are over 65 or under 11 you can fish in Moccasin Creek ( 65+ need a license which is $4 plus a $3 service fee and includes a trout stamp😊. You can apply for online and print off your license at home.).
After the hike and fishing we needed something else to do, so drove to Black Rock State Park – a mountain state park with amazing views. We had a picnic and headed back. We didn’t take in any local restaurants but there are a few close to Moccasin State Park. There isn’t a city close so bring your groceries and gas up the vehicles before you arrive.
