Port of Galveston的点评
点评：We have cruised out of Galveston multiple times happily using both driver drop of and efficient offsite indoor parking garages and lots.
Leaving from Galveston was smooth and efficient. We left from port centers down from Port of Galveston run dock. We returned for the first time to the Port of Galveston operated dock. The return to the Port of Galveston was anything but efficient.
Leaving the Carnival ship itself at the Port of Houston is efficient and smooth until you have picked up your bags and head out. You walk out into disorganized traffic pattern that the Port of Galveston terminal has.
As you stand and wait for car or lot busses pickup, they allowed only 5-7 vehicles in at a time leaving thousands waiting jostling for room as those that arrive for drop off are there also. At times there are only 1-2 cars along the entire pickup/drop off queue.
If you parked with them you walked to your car. Then wait to get out as the departure merge is a crisscrossing with other departures. If you used a shuttle service you had to wait and wait for them to allow a trickle of shuttles into the port system.
Car pick up is a joke. After 50 minutes talking to our driver sitting in the entry line, picked us up then risked the multiple merging to exit.
All this as 18 wheel delivery trucks use the same entry, blocking traffic periodically during this mashup.
Plan accordingly if using Port of Galveston in or out as you will spend longer than expected time waiting for what appears self inflicted disorganization.
