Frank Lloyd Wright's Graycliff的点评
点评：Graycliff is right on the shore of Lake Erie, although it sits high up on a cliff.
It is the summer home of the people that owned the Frank Lloyd Wright Martin House in downtown Buffalo.
Currently the property is constructing a visitor center, so the parking is in a gravel parking lot with a lot of construction, dust, mud if it’s raining, and the restrooms are in an outside trailer.
When you get to the parking lot, you have to scan the QR code on the placard of the parking lot marker of your parking space. And then you have to wait in your car until a docent comes to the 10 foot fence gate to allow you to walk over through the fence to get to the house tour. That is because of all the construction going on.
Once you’re beyond the gate, the dose and talks about Graycliff. In July, it was blazing hot in the 90s. And with threat of rain. They do give you umbrellas that you turn in at the end of the tour if needed.
The landscape and the house itself is beautiful. It’s made of stucco versus the Martin house is all brick. There are no photography on the inside of the house, but you can take photos of the grounds end of the house.
The house is beautiful inside and the cross breeze between the open windows and doors was very welcoming. Our docent did very well. I think her name was Patricia.
Also the tour concludes through the gift shop where everything is well curated.
It is worth a trip to see Greycliff.
