点评:Visiting Waimea Valley was one of my favorite parts of our trip. We kept hearing that the waterfall water level was down, but honestly it didn’t feel that way when we got there — it was still plenty of water and a great place to swim.
We chose to walk up the path instead of taking the trolley right away, and I’m so glad we did. Walking lets you pass through the cultural sites and gardens at your own pace. We ended up spending about an hour talking with one of the Native Hawaiian staff members, who shared incredible stories and history. That unexpected conversation was one of the highlights of the entire trip.
We then took the trolley back down, which was easy and a nice way to relax after the walk.
Swimming at the waterfall was so much fun. I would recommend bringing water shoes, since the rocks can be slippery. They provide life vests for everyone, which made the swim safe and enjoyable.
If you have time after your visit, check out the beach at Waimea Bay just outside the valley. It looked beautiful and would be a great way to end the day.
