A little Civil War, a little more Indian War, and Lots of Victorian beauty.
General Crook House Museum的点评
点评：General Crook was a Civil War officer who fought valiantly in several battles.
However, this house is post Civil War, when he became more famous for his fighting in the Indian Wars. He treated the Indians fairly and was the right man, at the right place, at the right time.
The Victorian home and the rooms were beautifully presented and since it was the holiday season, each room had a Christmas tree decorated in the color scheme of the room.
I took lots of pictures but will only share a few as other reviewers have posted plenty of pictures for you to see.
After an informative introduction by Cindy, she was wonderful, I received a “Walking Tour Booklet” which was filled with detailed information of each of the rooms.
This house is part of Fort Omaha and there is another guide book to a 14 stop Walking Tour around the Fort’s grounds where you will find plaques along the way explaining what the building in front of you were used for during the active life of the Fort.
Today these buildings are part of a Community College.
I was looking for Civil War history, but found Victorian era beauty and Christmas cheer.
Well worth the trip and my time spent.
