Buckfast Abbey carvery - soooo popular
Buckfast Abbey的点评
点评：Buckfast Abbey is beautiful, we've been there many, many times. This review is with regard to the carvery, having a visited the Abbey on a Sunday a few weeks ago, we decided to come back and try it.
We came as a family of five around 13:15hrs and managed to get an inside table (lots of people wandering around looking for a table inside or out).
We queued for 25 minutes before being served. There was a choice of beef, lamb, pork, turkey and nut roast, along with a huge choice of vegetables which all looked delicious. I had the beef and lamb (served a single piece of each) before choosing my vegetables from the front of the hot cabinet. But there’s another selection of vegetables behind these that has to be served and placed on your plate from someone behind the counter (personally, I want to select what I want and place it where I want on my plate).
My vegetables were delicious, unfortunately, a sinew ran through my piece of beef (so tough I was unable to cut it) and much had to be left and thrown away. All the others' meats were lovely.
Normally when scoring on Trip Advisor, I would deduct a point or half a point for something I’m not happy with.
I would deduct a point for my beef and two points for the queue (it was still busy like that at 14:45). If I did that, my score would be a two which seems really harsh considering that in the main, our family meals as a whole were delicious.
I do know I personally wouldn’t return for a carvery (due to the queues and not being able to serve my own vegetables).
Whilst I expect to queue at a carvery, it seems soooo popular with so many people prepared to queue and it is not possible to reserve a table.
We also had a dessert - apple strudel and apple crumble - both worthy of a visit in their own right.
