One month in Sancerre I will cherish until the next time I return

点评：I highly recommend Coeur de France Ecole de Langues. I just retired from my job and spoke some RUDIMENTARY French for many years, given my wife is French and daughter lives there. I was stuck at the same level for many years. After a lot of research, I decided on this school because I wanted to be in a small tranquil village, with few English speaking people for a full immersive experience. I also wanted to be within driving or train distance of Paris. While there are schools in Paris, I’ve found that in Paris when I tried to speak French with someone they typically spoke English back to me. Not only are there less English speaking people in Sancerre, the locals understand that you are there to learn their language and contribute to your learning experience graciously. My professor Guillaume had the right balance of giving me the space to be relaxed to let the words flow, with the discipline of teaching and correcting me with encouragement. All of the other professors and staff were super friendly. I stayed in one of the school’s apartments which is exactly what I hoped for despite expectations set that it wasn’t a luxury apartment. It was authentically beautiful, clean and nice. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about it. I spent a month at the school and was sad to leave the school, the staff and the community in the village. Since my wife is French and I have spent many vacations and work trips there I was familiar with French culture. Well, after a month in Sancerre I left with an even better understanding of the culture and also of myself. I also made some new friends 🤗. I’ll be back next year!
