great market - poor cafe experience

点评：Went to the Artisan Show at Arley Hall yesterday - it was a superb artisan market with really top notch makers and businesses. The gardens...as always... were beautiful and the garden nursery was well stocked with the most wonderful plants.
However, the cafe in the courtyard left a great deal to be desired and this soured our visit, I'm afraid. Whilst queuing for a cream tea we observed a lady return hers and ask to speak to the manager - the cream she had been given was past its use by date and when opened had green mould on it. Noticing the same date on ours ( and most of the tubs in the display) we asked for an exchange...the staff member said that they had been frozen and would be fine to eat but when we asked to speak to the manager she was 'unavailable' to see us. We asked for a full refund which the staff found difficult to do. This is not ok....stock control and review should be a daily task and ANY item that is past its use by date - particularly cream - should be disposed of there and then. It led us to wonder what else was being served in there that was past its date. I expected better.
