Super Bat Experience!

点评：I’ve been to Jersey Zoo a few times before, and it’s always excellent!
This visit was for the Fruit Bat experience. Exceptional value (£60 which included entry) for this 45 minute experience. Our keeper was friendly and knowledgeable and really made it such a fun experience - telling us about some of the small primates on the way to the bats.
We got to go into a smaller part of the bat tunnel which had three bats in - two Livingstone’s Fruit Bats and one Rodrigues Fruit Bat. The keeper gave so much information while we took it turns to feed the bats a snack, in a little pot on a stick but we were eye to eye and it was incredible!
Our keeper happily answered questions, talked about anatomy and how they fly etc. We learned so much!
So informative, and wonderful to see the bats up close!
Aside from the experience, we got to speak with a keeper in the Tortoise area which was really lovely! Such passion for the animals! Would love a tortoise experience next ;)
This zoo is so reasonably priced to get into if an experience isn’t for you (don’t let not being able to book online put you off - the team answers emails so quickly you’ll have an option of dates in no time) and you can spend a good few hours watching the gorillas and orangutans, and all the other wonderful animals they have there (shout out to the little reptile house - the tiny blue gecko is always the one I search for and manage to find but everything in there is fab, even the elusive mountain chicken frogs!).
We used the bus to get there and back (it’s a couple of £ each way per person). They have a lovely gift shop and also, at the end of the car park is their own charity shop that we didn’t get a chance to go to as we had to leave to get back to the airport. Staff are all superb (the man who served us in the shop before we’d even entered the zoo was super friendly and helpful!).
Put Jersey Zoo on your list if you’re visiting the island!
