点评:We stopped on way home from holiday to break up the drive. We started with a visit to the cafe which is recommended. The staff there and in museum really make the place, friendly and keen to share their knowledge and passion for the subject.
The visit is a tour of the mine and local area and the excellent guide, Stuart, gave us as much time as we wanted to explore. He was engaging, friendly and generous and really made it a highlight of our holiday.
There is a small but very well set up museum and a gift shop, again the guide was there to share his knowledge on the various rock and minerals you can buy and where they come from.
You do need to dress appropriately, the mine is a little damp and muddy, you need to duck down but they supply helmets and torches and are there to keep you safe and informed.
Very much recommend the interesting drive to the highest village in Scotland, by nine feet, for a visit to this museum and tour.
