点评：I really disliked this place. Walking across the wooden bridge to the island with a small Discover Senegal group I was horrified to come across very poorly dogs . The dogs looked close to death in the scorching heat.
The island itself had an ominous unwelcoming aura about it.
After the guided tour the group had dreadful food at the ‘restaurant’ after the visit . The vegetarian option was a plate of carrots ( I kid you not)! I had the sickening experience of animal abuse. A donkey running free along the wooden bridge was being beaten with a thick stick by a young man ( monster) to make it run faster . The monster doing this was laughing and obviously enjoying inflicting the pain and humiliation upon the poor animal . I was not in a position to help .
I can’t get the image out of my head .
This is not the only time I despaired of treatment of donkeys , horses and dogs in Senegal and I would urge anyone to stay away from this country.
My partner also witnessed other vile abuse to animals . I also witnessed other abuse but there was definitely a high incidence on this tiny island .
I have been advised by an animal charity in Senegal to write various reviews to trip advisor and to the tourist board to highlight the harrowing experiences involving animal abuse.
