Easy One Day Tour of Swiss Countryside
Swiss Chocolate Train的点评
点评：I travelled by the Belle Epoque ticket for the chocolate train that went from Montreux to Gruyeres (factory and the chateau) and then Broc (Cailler factory). The Belle Epoque ticket cost 100 CHF for one adult.
It was a good guided tour with excellent sightseeing of Swiss countryside on the way, however branding it as a train trip would be injustice as we travelled by train only for 45 minutes and the rest went by bus. The snacks at train were also very minimal. Paying about 30 CHF extra for the fancy train cabin and coffee was not worth it.
The rest of tour proceeded at a good pace and we managed to see three major destinations in one day. The Montbovon station is also quite a beautiful town with a station-master cat (picture attached). Time management is crucial but if well planned before leaving, its convenient to execute. We spent about an hour in Gruyere cheese factory, two hours in the Chateau/village, and two hours in the Cailler factory.
I agree with some reviews suggesting independent trips to either destination can give more time and independence but then if one spends too much time at one place then the rest is not possible to cover in a day, given that tourist spots and transport close down fairly early in Switzerland. It was a good experience for me as a solo traveller to have a group around to stick to a plan and ask for guidance.
I would recommend however to avoid Belle Epoque and save up the cost for other activities on way. Maybe its good for group travellers who can take good pictures in the cabin, but I felt paying extra for just 45 minutes in the trian is not worth it.
