点评：We aren't really joiner in type people but we ended up making rope and a corncob doll and taking a covered wagon ride (we were the only ones on it and both got to "drive" the horses - they knew what to do all by themselves). Everyone who works there is super friendly and knowledgeable about the Ingalls family - they even read little excerpts from the books to us so we could relate what we were doing to the Ingalls' experiences. I read the books a lot as a kid so it was really cool to see the actual land and set up for Laura's teenage years. There is also a memorial there that is accessible from the road but fenced off from the homestead site (I went through a split rail fence to reach it) where there are five cottonwood trees actually planted by Pa. How cool is that? You could see the size and set up of the Ingalls' house and sod roofed barn and see examples of a dugout and shanty house and one room schoolhouse. One of the highlights was there were two super friendly kittens there who just came running up to be held. There were also ponies (and a baby pony), horses, chickens, and a calf only a few weeks old. Absolute must for kids who are fans of the books but really cool as an adult too.
