13th-century Romanesque and Gothic church
Esslinger Stadtkirche St. Dionys的点评
点评：This is nice Medieval church located on the south side of Marktplatz in Esslingen. It is open from 9am to 6pm (Sat to Thurs) and 12pm to 6pm (Fri) and is free to enter. Historically, it seems there have been church buildings at this site since the 8th century. However, what you see today is a Romanesque and Gothic building constructed between 1220-1315.
The exterior is architecturally attractive, highlighted by twin towers with a connecting bridge. The interior is modest with a centre nave and side aisles. The choir, rod screen, main altarpiece and stained glass windows are quite decorative and nice to see. There is an impressive organ in back as well.
On the whole, we enjoyed our brief visit to see Stadtkirche St. Dionys. Along with visits to nearby Frauenkirche and Münster St. Paul, it makes for nice historic church sightseeing while in Esslingen.
