Such a fun family day out

点评：What can I say, this was our second visit as a family and this time we had booked the Red Panda experience for our youngest son (9) birthday treat. The weather was on our side which helped but despite the site not being huge we enjoyed a very fun day from opening until close. The car park is council owned but fairly priced and right outside. There was an additional egg hunt for the Easter holidays which we took part in and added an extra fun aspect to the trip for our children. The animal enclosures are all extremely well kept and maintained. The monkeys and gibbons were so interactive our kids had a fab time. The rainforest was so great being able to get so close to all the amazing birds my husband (a budding novice photographer) had to be dragged out! The penguin talk was great and the viewing area for the penguins is fab especially for toddlers with the viewing windows. There is an obstacle course play area as well as another standard play area which although isn’t huge is well designed for the age ranges it is aimed at. The red panda experience began at 3pm we went to meet the keeper, our son had to have an adult with him so my husband went into the enclosure with him, the rest of the family could still have a great view and get involved from outside the enclosure. Unfortunately the red pandas did not want to play ball (having recently only just been reintroduced to their enclosure after maintenance) this wasn’t a problem for the keeper though she wasn’t in a rush and was more than happy to chat away about the zoo and the red pandas whilst we waited. I was very nervous as the description stated 20 minutes but there was no rush and we were there a good 45 minutes but it paid off because our son did eventually managed to get up close and feed them. This is such a great addition to Newquay and one we love visiting and will return to again.
